This is the first in a series of posts about the music I enjoy listening to. Today I am covering Black Stone Cherry, a quartet from Kentucky in the States. They are a modern rock band with a classic rock edge. Their sound is a mix of classic rock and southern rock, with a pinch of grunge thrown in for good measure. They have released five albums, the latest of which is 2016’s Kentucky.
My top songs by Black Stone Cherry:
- White Trash Millionaire (from their third long-player, 2011’s Between The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea)
- In My Blood (also from Between The Devil & The Deep Blue Sea)
- Cheaper To Drink Alone (from their fifth and latest, 2016’s Kentucky)
- Soul Machine (also from Kentucky)
- Bad Luck & Hard Love (from their fourth LP, 2014’s Magic Mountain)
- Dance Girl (also from Magic Mountain)
I love these songs because all six are quite upbeat and you can move to them. Another post in this series on the way very soon!! #ArtistInFocus #BlackStoneCherry #MyLifeInMusic
I love music, and there are some music videos that just enthrall me 🙂 Here are a few that I can think of right now, more will come!
Meatloaf & Cher – Dead Ringer For Love
I love this – Cher is rocking it #badassfemale
David Bowie & Mick Jagger – Dancing In The Street
Makes me laugh every time, though I hate Bowie’s outfit, it’s horrible….
Aerosmith & Run DMC – Walk This Way
Best rock/rap collaboration!
Van Halen – Jump
Best video when I feel down – David Lee Roth makes me smile with his adorable goofiness 🙂
Motley Crue – Girls Girls Girls
My favourite video by the Crue!
Bon Jovi – Livin’ On A Prayer
I love how this video is shot 🙂
My last post was about my favourite female rockers. Continuing the rock and metal theme, this post is about my favourite radio station, otherwise known as Planet Rock (slogan: Where Rock Lives). Planet Rock is a UK-based station, but can be heard online, on DAB digital radio, on your TV and through your mobile. At the minute I listen online through internetradiouk.com (handy for occasional boredom busting during work!) or very occasionally on TV (Sky 0110). My favourite DJs at Planet Rock are Wyatt, Darren Redick, Danny Bowes (singer with Thunder), Alice Cooper and Joe Elliott (singer with Def Leppard).
Some of the music I heard during the week came from Blackberry Smoke, AC/DC, Metallica, Thin Lizzy, Halestorm, The Treatment, Boston, The Kinks, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin, Black Stone Cherry, Whitesnake, UFO, Deep Purple, Guns N Roses, Jimi Hendrix and Motley Crue, among many many others. I started listening to the station last year and it definitely plays my kind of music – would listen to it all day if I could. I will have to wait until the TuneIn radio app has an update though; I have this app on my iPhone and iPad but Planet Rock is not on it (sort this out ASAP guys!!!). I am a proud Planet Rock listener!
