Mindful Colouring

I have to admit: I find colouring really therapeutic. I bought a mindfulness colouring book in the summer for someone. However they weren’t interested so I took it for myself. There are six books in the Colour Me Mindful series by Anastasia Catris: Underwater, Tropical, Birds, Enchanted Creatures, Seasons and Butterflies.

I have the Birds book and I have completed 2 pictures out of 50 so far. Here is one of them which I also posted on Instagram:

I will get more of these books in the future, as I find them a helpful way to forget my fatigue and pain issues for a while. I have dealt with pain and fatigue for three years now. This is one way I can successfully indulge my creative side!

Mindfulness

“Don’t worry about what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive and do that. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.” Howard Thurman

little book of mindfulness

As part of my goals for 2015 I have started to explore mindfulness in greater depth. At the heart of mindfulness is the breath and the ability to concentrate on the breath for a minute. This allows us to slow down and gain a perspective on situations. To be fully present; to concentrate on the here and now. Research has shown that practising mindfulness helps with chronic pain, grief and depression as well as helping people deal with more mundane worries. I have started to practice this daily and it helps me to deal with the day and whatever lies ahead, including my pain issues.
